something new...

I had the honor to meet and perform for Gloria Steinem in 2012 when she gave a talk at Augsburg university. I know she is a controversial figure within the movement, and I won't make any apologies for her actions or mistakes. but she was undeniably an icon, the kind of thing that finally impressed my mom, and she gave me one of the best compliments of my entire life. i performed my angry feminist rant poem for her and the standing room only audience. I was thrilled to be her opening act, and it went over well. but then at the end of her talk, someone asked her what she liked most about doing the work she does. and she responded by saying for her, the best part is going across the country and around the world, and getting to meet all the young, amazing women who are doing this work today. "Like Misty, this morning" she said "I felt like i didn't have to get up here and say anything, because she's already said it!" The whole audience burst into applause and I felt as if the torch had been passed to me. the work continues, friends. kill your heroes and keep the faith. Rest in power, Gloria.

felt like getting creative so i made some decorations for tomorrow's back to school ice cream social. the holographic table cloth is really going to pop.

🩶🌧🩶 me and my rain cloud 🩶🌧🩶 Some folks have asked about the class. I went to a place called The Artery Glass Studio in Anoka and the class was $30 + the cost of the kit ($20). This was the design i chose. I made my own stained glass rain cloud! I've been wanting to try this for years now, and i finally did. Mistakes were made but i didn't cut myself out burn myself. so i think i did pretty good. what do you think?

Ok. one more time: there is no such thing as a peaceful nazi. there's no way to peacefully advocate the genocide of entire peoples. no. this is not protected "free speech". hate speech is not free speech. if you break the social contract, than you are no longer protected by that contact. You do not get to claim the right to be a nazi and not get run out of town for it.
